I started watching football on television back in 2004 as Liverpool lifting champions league trophy in Istanbul is the most vivid thing i remember from back then. So just like every beginner i started following the champions The Red Devils, Manchester United! Such was their Charisma and aura back then. They had Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez the most feared trio of that time along with Giggsy and Scholes in their midfield and Van der sar, Ferdinand,Vidic and Evra completing the back line. Brutal if you describe them in one word. I had very modest start with watching EPL one or two match a month would suffice my hunger (now i watch as much as 10-12 matches a month). Surely watching only Man u play only and only them, they played match winning football. then came that night when Bacelona's Messi crushed Man u in Rome to win champions league in 2009 and with it Ronaldo bid adieu to The Theater of dreams and he went on to become a Galactico. United were never same after that with him they won league titles in 2006-07,2007-08,2008-09 after that just twice in 6 years loosing the brutality they had (now they are pathetic!)
I tried to catch up with La liga just to see Ronaldo play there but it was a 2 horse race back then (may be 3 horse now :p) it had all the luster but lacked competitiveness. So just after 1 season of La liga back to EPL. Now coming to the best club ever (; - Arsenal, first full 90 mins that i saw them play was back in 2011 early Feb the match every gunner will love to forget. We scored 4 goals in first half (with first 3 coming within 10 mins from the start.) I was hoping for a drubbing in the second half but it was much funnier than that we gave way 2 penalties (classic Arsenal back then) Newcastle went on to draw that game with Tiote scoring a gem of a goal just before the full time. Incredible and astonishing not the way magpies played but the way we played in first half. That was the start, Glory Glory Man United was buried and COYG! was sprouting. At the time players were deboarding Arsenal I boarded that bus, Nasri left so did Clichy, Fabregas and Van Persie. Unhurriedly I started finding about the glorious history we had the days of Henry and Begkamp, The Invincible season, Highbury, agonizingly losing that final to Barcelona and the stadium move which multiplied my respect for the club.
One would laugh but I have spent nights crying on the ruing chances of winning a game and calculating the permutations and combinations just to finish fourth to play UCL next year. Never once we failed to do that and doing that and that too with the players which other clubs keep on their benches as surplus :p. Classic counter attacks, 'you cant see me' passing, ethics most importantly, selflessness dil hi aa gya bas. Things started improving came in Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud, Kos the boss, Ozil, Sanchez and lately Cech. Last 2 years have been great 2 FA cups and an assured League title this term (;. Our defense is as strong as i have ever seen new crop of players is startling. Although w
e still don't know how to play match winning football and it's no problem if we dont win unless we keep playing like this, The beautiful Football.
